Proton Experimental Adds Fix for Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Vampire Survivors, Enables Hidraw for Simucube Racing Wheels/Fanatec Pedals

Yesterday’s Proton Experimental update mostly focuses on bug fixes. But in addition to game-specific fixes, we’ve got support for another game: 雀姬 (Mahjong ladies) – which, I believe, points to an anime board game. Hidraw has been enabled for Simucube racing wheels and Fanatec pedals. In case you’re not aware, hidraw “provides a raw interface to USB and Bluetooth Human Interface Devices (HIDs)” and is “useful for communicating with non-conformant HID devices which send and receive data in a way that is inconsistent with their report descriptors.
Proton Experimental Adds Support for Two New Games, Fix for Spyro Reignited Trilogy

This one slipped under the radar, but better to cover it late rather than never, I guess. Wednesday’s update to Proton Experimental enables support for two additional titles: NinNinDays2 and King under the Mountain. Additionally, we got fixes for Halo Infinite, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Seperra Core, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Sin of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII launcher, and Project CARS 2:
Fix Halo Infinite not starting after a recent game update.
Proton Experimental Fixes EA App Flickering on Steam Deck, Fixes ‘Weird Texture’ for Quake III

That EA App sure has become a royal pain, huh? Well, Valve/CodeWeavers are quick to address this dilemma. Flickering on this app should no longer be an issue on the Deck. In addition, Quake III: Arena and Quake III: Team Arena have the “weird texture” removed over the menu.
That’s all for today’s update. See the patch notes on GitHub.
Proton Experimental Fixes EA Launcher, Vermintide 2, and The Anacrusis

Despite today’s Proton Experimental update containing only three fixes, they’re good fixes nonetheless, especially if you use the new EA App in conjunction with Steam, which is apparently causing issues. If you were previously getting a blank window, that should no longer be an issue. Fixes have also been added for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and The Anacrusis. The former should no longer throw an error when starting the game for the first time, and the latter should now display video when joining a match.

In addition, performance for HROT has been improved. Fixes have been added to Civ IV and OUTRIDERS – the former should no longer crash on world creation, and the latter should no longer hang on the black screen when launching the game on the Steam Deck.
Proton Experimental Fixes Regression with Final Fantasy XIV (Also Automatically Brings Up OSK on Deck for the Launcher)

If Gabe is into something, he really means it. So when he says he’s a Final Fantasy XIV fan, he’s going to get down to business. Because now the regression with said game when using different Proton prefixes should no longer be an issue. And that’s the only game that was shown any favor with this update. Talk about dedication.
Gabe further showed his love for the RPG by adding a little extra special sauce for you Steam Deck fans out there.
