SteamOS 3.4.5 Preview Fixes Update Loop When Doing a Factory Reset, Fixes Focus Issue with Forza Horizon 5

Small but important update out for both stable and preview branches on the Deck. SteamOS 3.4.4 (stable) fixes an update loop that could occur when doing a factory reset. 3.4.5 (preview) – in addition to adding the update loop fix – also fixes a focus issue with Forza Horizon 5.
Steam Deck Client Beta Adds Search Tab for Controller Layout, Fixes Library Not Showing Up when Family View is Enabled (Plus Stable and Preview SteamOS Updates)

When browsing controller profiles on the Deck, you can now search for them with today’s (or yesterday’s?) Deck client update (on beta and preview branches). Your library should now properly load if you have Family View enabled. More buttons have been added to the list of inputs “that skip the BPM/Deck start up animations.” A regression was fixed regarding Yaw and Roll combined sliders. Negative contribution from either one is now respected.

More, upon more, upon more fixes for the Steam Deck. This time around, the Steam store should no longer have any gamepad focus issues, and footer buttons should properly be displayed. In Desktop Mode, the login interface got some minor layout fixes. It shouldn’t stretch past the bottom of the window. Context menus should now work after closing the Update news dialog. Subbed workshop items should properly display now when “there were thousands of them.
Steam Deck Client Beta Fixes Remote Play, Adds New Gyro Activation Features (Plus SteamOS Update Fixes Resident Evil 4)

Today’s Steam Deck client update (beta) adds fixes for both Steam Input and Remote Play. Additionally, Left and Right Stick Deflection has been added as an option for gyro activation. Patch notes are as follows:

SteamOS Has Finally Been Rebased to the Latest Version of Arch Linux! (Plus Plenty of Other Goodies)

Holy crap. And here I thought Valve was never going to update the Arch base.
Turns out I was wrong.
You might recall back in the summer I wrote about the outdated packages on SteamOS and the security risk that brought. Well, I guess you can finally use Desktop Mode with more peace of mind, now that most everything has been updated. Per Steam’s post, this update “pulls in the latest performance, security and stability fixes for the underlying packages that are the foundation for SteamOS.
